About
Where Art Meets Bold Expression
Rafat Alkhatib is an award-winning independent political cartoonist, illustrator, and satirist whose work boldly confronts the pressing issues of our time. From the topics of free speech and fighting racism to the impacts of war, technology, and culture, his art transcends language barriers, sparking conversation across the globe. Now based in the United States, Rafat creates uncensored, thought-provoking pieces that challenge societal norms and provoke reflection.
Alkhatib’s journey began in Jordan, where he first developed his passion for art under the influence of his father, Ahmad Alkhatib, and comic legends like Habib Haddad and Richard Thompson. Over the years, his work has been featured on prominent platforms such as Al Mayadeen, The New Arab, Al Jazeera, and Al Hudood. As a member of respected organizations like Cartoonists Rights Network International (CRNI) and Cartooning for Peace, Rafat’s commitment to using art as a tool for activism is evident.
His artistic career hasn’t been without challenges. In 2020, Rafat faced censorship and restrictions in his home country for his political cartoons, eventually prompting him to relocate to the United States in search of the freedom to create without barriers. Today, he channels those experiences into powerful visual narratives, which are now available for the first time as collectible prints and wearable art.
